Completing the IMM 0208 E Declaration for People Affected by the Conflict in Sudan

On February 23, 2023, the Government of Canada opened the humanitarian pathway to provide permanent residence to Sudanese foreign nationals. This pathway (formally called the Family-based permanent residence pathway for people affected by the conflict in Sudan) will help 3,250 people from Sudan reunite with their families in Canada.

If you are a Canadian citizen or a Permanent Resident who has family members in Sudan you can apply for this program to have your family members join you in Canada, though in order to do that you are required to complete the IMM 0208 E form.

IMM0208E Statutory Declaration

The IMM 0208 E Eligibility and Statutory Declaration is a document required by the Government of Canada attesting to the intention of a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada to support a foreign national affected by the conflict in Sudan. The Canadian citizen or permanent resident must be a direct relative such as a spouse, common-law partner, children, grandchildren, parents, grandparents, or siblings of the person applying to enter Canada. The IMM 0208 E form must be signed by a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who is an extended family member of the person wishing to enter Canada. This person is also called the “anchor.”

For more information check this website. You can also download the IMM 0208E from here and you will need to use Adobe Reader to open this form.

Commissioning

The IMM0208E form must be commissioned. This means that the anchor person must sign the IMM 0208E in front of a Commissioner of oaths or another person who is permitted to swear declarations. The commissioner must sign a declaration on the form confirming that the anchor person declared the information on the IMM 0208E to be true.
